The former are used to replace a single tooth (crown) or multiple teeth (bridge) without needing to be removed by the patient. Either the patient’s teeth or artificial titanium roots can be used to anchor these dentures to the mouth of the patient. Removable dentures can be attached to the patient’s gums (in this case, they would be defined as total prostheses), anchored to the residual teeth of the patient (partial prostheses), or anchored to other bone-integrated implants (overdentures).
