    Our physician answers
    your questions about clinical needs.

    General questions

When I have a cavity, do I notice it?
No. Caries by definition is asymptomatic. When we feel cold, sweet or generally hypersensitive, there is definitely involvement of the deeper layers of the tooth and the risk of complications increases, such as root canal treatments or large fillings that can present complications over time. Performing clinical and radiographic checks with bitewings rx, not panoramic, periodically is the only way to diagnose caries early.
Is it normal for my gums to bleed when I brush my teeth?
No. Gums should never bleed. Under healthy conditions the gingiva like any mucous tissue should not bleed. If it does bleed you should check with your dentist to see if there is a problem with gingivitis, periodontitis or other systemic correlations.
If I am pregnant or breastfeeding, can I go to the dentist?
Yes. It is essential to visit the dentist before, during, and after a pregnancy. To monitor oral health status according to fluctuations and hormonal trends. Sometimes it is necessary to intervene with urgent hygiene measures to minimize any adverse effects that may arise during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Is it better to save a compromised tooth or replace it with a dental implant?
A tooth cured even many times is always better than a titanium dental implant. The natural tooth has a mechanical behavior with micro movements during chewing that the implant can never reproduce being fixed and rigid. The gingiva strongly binds the tooth surface and in case of inflammation it heals easily after treatment by reattaching to the tooth. On titanium implants this is not the case. If inflammation is present, the risk of an irreversible inflammatory process, leading to implant loss, is very high, so those with implants must follow much more frequent professional hygiene protocols and have very good home hygiene.
Can dental veneers be seen? Can they come off?
Adhesive ceramic dental veneers if done correctly are totally invisible even to experienced eyes of dental professionals. A dental veneer will not come off the tooth to which it is applied unless there has been an error in the bonding procedure. The strength and durability is comparable to natural tooth enamel.
