Fixed and removable prosthetics
Prosthetic restorations can be fixed or removable.
The former are used to replace a single tooth (crown) or several teeth (bridges), without being able to be removed by patients.
Either the patient’s own teeth properly filed and prepared or artificial titanium roots (implants) can be used as anchors.
Mobile prostheses, on the other hand, can be supported by the patient’s soft tissue (gums) (in this case they are called full dentures, so-called dentures), anchored to the patient’s remaining teeth (partial or skeletal dentures) finally they can be anchored to osseointegrated implants (overdentures).
